Kanungu Youth Embrace Digital Skills at Technology and Robotics Bootcamp

Students at the ongoing Technology and Robotics Bootcamp in Kihihi, Kanungu, experienced a great day of learning as they were introduced to graphic design, artificial intelligence, and app development. Organized by Hii5 Radio, the camp aims to equip young people in the region with cutting-edge digital skills to prepare them for the fast-evolving technological world.

During today’s session, students learnt how to design certificates as part of their graphics design training. The hands-on activity was met with overwhelming enthusiasm, with participants eagerly admiring their printed work. “I never imagined I could design something like this in a single day,” remarked one excited student.

The camp also introduced participants to artificial intelligence, sparking a wave of creativity. A group of students worked on a music project, using AI language models to craft lyrics and employing another program to transform their words into a fully produced song. The experience was described as “mind-blowing” by one of the students.

Another group of learners embarked on an introductory journey into app development, gaining valuable insights into creating functional and user-friendly mobile applications.

Hii5 Radio’s initiative has been praised for its inclusivity and vision.

The training sessions are entirely free and open to all, ensuring that every interested youth has access to these transformative opportunities.

Hii5 Radio CEO Sharifu Akankwasa emphasised the importance of the programme, stating, “The world is advancing rapidly in science and technology, and it’s vital that everyone advances with it. Our goal is to empower Kanungu’s youth to not just participate in this digital revolution, but to lead it.”

Music created using AI by bootcamp participants.
